An ode to 80's horror movies, Hack/Slash is a clever and fun series! The first omnibus is campy and action packed with good stories, some of which are homages to famous horror movies, and one I think was ripped off from an X-Files episode; you'll see which. There's a lot of fan service in here, especially for Cassie and her upskirt shots. Vlad so far is my favorite character, he's like Jason Voorhees if he was a good guy. Plus Cassie vs Chucky! I swear I was reading his dialogue in Brad Dourif's voice!

Just like the horror movies it lampoons, this series is cheap, flashy, and strangely addictive. (Note: I actually ended up purchasing this a few years after I initially read it back in 2011, as it stuck in my head for that long.) This comic aims hard for the lowest common denominator and for the most part it hits it. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse, but I really enjoyed this comic as a guilty pleasure read. You could probably do a lot better than this comic, but then I don't think Seeley was really aiming for a comic that would make you think. What really kept this from being as good as it could have been was that it assumed a lot of things. It assumed that not only would the reader be aware of all of the horror cliches (not an unreasonable assumption) but that they'd also be aware of people within the industry. At one point we see a storyline involving several comic book people and not many of them are really all that famous outside their particular circle or group of fans. As a casual reader I didn't really recognize most of them and I just didn't really get the connection that someone else might and it really kept me from getting into the comic as much as I'd have liked during these chapters. It's still fun and still worth checking out, but for many this will be a library read even if they're a big horror movie fanatic. For others, this will be something that will be a necessity on their shelves. Only after reading it will you be able to tell which one you are.

A very great collection of the first issues of hack/slash. The crossover with Chucky was phenomenal and was to me the best story of this series. A great read for people that love horror and are into horror movie parodies. Unfortunately, this is the only omnibus of this series that I can honestly say is enjoyable to read. The series takes a turn for the worst after this omnibus in my honest opinion and begins focusing on boring drama between characters, focuses on boring side characters instead of Cassie and Vlad as well as putting aside the whole "Hunters of slashers" premise and eventually just ditches the horror vibe altogether to go more toward an action/comedy/sci-fi feel. I strongly recommend that people buy this one book and leave it at that.

I really enjoyed reading this book. So much so I will be ordering the next volumes in this series. The artwork and illustrations are great, a little dark but that just sets the mood. The main character and her sidekick hunt down and kill serial killers and dispose of them in all the bloody, gory fashion! If you're a fan of blood and gore this is for you.

I was curious about Hack/Slash and bought this omnibus to check it out. The concept has some shades of Buffy, but Cassie Hack is such an endearing and attractive character. This is the most interesting series I have come across in a long time since outgrowing Marvel titles like Iron Man and X-Men.The artwork is hit and miss, in my opinion. With the different artists working on each story it is somewhat inevitable, I guess. As a result, there isn't a distinctive look, and you might not like it as a result if you're that sort of reader. Otherwise, I've found a new favourite, and you might as well. The characters are quite good, with the slashers being sick SOBs that you'd love to see being butchered. I'd have given it 5 stars if not for the cartoonish artwork in the middle of the book.

This is the best of Buffy and the best of Horror films. It may not be as good as Buffy, but you can tell this was in part influenced by the best bits of the Horror genre, Buffy included. This comic is sexy, violent, brutal and pretty hardcore. I like that different artists get a shot at illustrating this series which worked great for the Popgun series. This series also has great cameos from Evil Ernie, the Re-animator Chucky and even Robert Kirkman (creator and writer of the Walking Dead comic series) and is highly entertaining. I have all four volumes and I thought it was a brilliantly executed series. Hopefully when they finally make the movie they don't screw it up.

This was my first introduction to Hack/Slash and it was great. If you enjoy slasher film you will enjoy this series, but keep in mind the while reading this omnibus there are two sections if different stories that get swapped for around five pages. It was confusing in the beginning but when you realize this just skip the pages and then go back to the pages when you get to that particular story.

of course this assumes you have any desire to read horror comics. If the answer is yes, read this book. Even if not. It can sway from serious and sentimental to mad cap camp. All of which is great filled with a great main character and supprisingly compelling fellow protagonist. The art duties change from issue to issue and that can be jarring, as soon as you like a style it changes, but no style is bad exactly and it all adds to the overal art of the project to see some cool takes on the matierial.Buy Hack Slash in omnibus form. If you can track the individual issues, good luck
