“There was no way I would’ve seen it the way I saw it on Brother.”I do not ride a motorcycle. I am not retired. I am not a man. I’m not a baby boomer. You don’t have to be any of the things that author Morgan Stafford represents to find this book incredibly engaging and endlessly enjoyable with the style and format that includes you in his plans.I learned so much from Morgan Stafford’s carefully and thoughtfully written experiences in this book. It took me on adventures I will never take. Facing situations I will not ever encounter. Met such a wonderful and fascinating string of people. I dodged rocks and trucks on the Dalton Highway. Had wine on a ferry with strangers, now friends, on bikes. I had a beer in a bar with a surfer and I talked with people from all over the world. I set up a tent near the Arctic Circle, and I saw the Arctic Circle. I have fallen in love with Taos and stayed in more crappy hotels than I thought possible. I know panniers and tank bags as easily as I do the value of choosing high-quality ones. Farkles? I look for those now. I now evaluate bikes - are they serious riders? Weekenders on a hall-pass? Commuters?I’ve observed couples finding different paths through retirement. I’ve had halibut at the Salty Dog, donned a beekeepers vail and harvested honey. The Loretta Chapel brings chills to my spine and I’ve never seen it. As a casual fan of O’Keefe, I have now developed a deeper understanding and appreciation for the artist.Maybe I will do some of those things myself. Maybe.I am entering my early 50s with a new insight to my next forty years. What do I want? How do I want it? If society doesn’t have it, I’ll make it myself. Just like Morgan Stafford did.Now bring me the next book, I have more adventures to live through this author and I have life planning to do.The wonderful added bonus to this book is a donation to the Navy Seal Foundation. One of the foremost organizations supporting the very dedicated soldiers who do the work that none of us can imagine. Bless them and thank you, Mr. Stafford, for recognizing their sacrifices.

Got the book on Sunday and couldn't put it down. Morgan is a painter with words, the descriptions of the places he visits and the people he meets can easily be pictured in your mind's eye. You can almost see the emotion on the face of the more interesting characters he meets along the way to the Arctic Circle. The canvas he lays out in describing the sites and sounds takes you there as if you were riding along with him and Brother, his mechanical brethren, who seems to have a soul of his own.Morgan's style of writing is easy to read as if you were just having a conversation with him in some random pub along the highway while sipping a good Irish whiskey. In your mind you think of questions that you would ask and as you keep winding the road with him, he answers them eloquently. The maps he drew out are great to visualize the vast routes he took and the randomness of them. They remind of the old engineering drawings I would see from a time when computer aided drafting didn't exist and the artist designers hand drew them with a unique text that is long forgotten.He is a modern day Jack Keroauc who sold everything he owned except some clothes and a bike and took out On The Road to an adventure few of us could fathom let alone accomplish. I look forward to the follow on books and to his next chapter in Europe. If you see a 6'-4" Pierce Brosnan with a beard doppelganger riding a Triumph while off the beaten path, it just might be Morgan. You may want to buy him a pint and strike up a conversation and hear a tale like none other. For the rest of us, there's To the Arctic Circle: My Nomadic Experience.

I received my book last Sunday afternoon and immediately started reading it. Later that evening, after reading almost a hundred pages, I had to force myself to put the book down and go to bed. I read another hundred pages on Monday and reluctantly finished the book Tuesday afternoon. I didn't want it to end!I truly felt like I was reliving Mr. Stafford's cross-country experience with every page. The images of his stories were so visible in my mind, I felt like I was riding along with him. I have visited some of the places that he visited and described in the book. His descriptions were spot on!I especially appreciate Mr. Stafford's donation of part of the proceeds of the book to the Navy Seal Foundation. As a Navy retiree, I have a special affinity for Navy Seals and the missions that they undertake daily for our nation. I look forward to the other books in the series and I hope that they are published soon.

This book took me on an adventure and made me want to go to all the places detailed in each chapter. From beginning to end, it was a great read. Morgan has a way of writing that puts you right in the moment and I can't wait for the next edition so I can continue the journey!

Morgan Stafford writes a philosophical narrative of what it means to take the road less traveled. Insightful and authentic. There is much to learn about life after retirement in To the Arctic Circle.

Looking forward to reading Morgan's book... have had the pleasure of following him online and taken on his adventures, through his remarkable ability to truly capture, the soul of our wonderful wilderness.

I followed Morgan and "Jack's" odyssey on Facebook as it progressed. I am so enjoying reliving it in greater depth and detail in the first of Morgan's expeditions....bring on the next installment! Sure wish my husband could enjoy reading it along side me.

I've only had the privilege of reading excerpts up until now. If they are any indication of this book, then I know it will be superb. Will update after devouring every word.
