Paul R. Secord is a 1972 graduate of the University of New Mexico. After a career in Southern California as an environmental planning consultant specializing in historic and cultural resources, he now calls Albuquerque home. I grew up in Albuquerque. I love Albuquerque. And this book is great! I grew up going to the Kimo Theater but this book told me things I didn't know. And it introduced me to several other peoples I always knew about but didn't really know. The chapter on the murals at Maisel's is excellent. I really think that one of the best things a visitor (or even an oldtimer) to Albuquerque could do is walk around downtown with this book. I've already started recommending it friends visiting Albuquerque.

As a California tourist to Albuquerque, "Deco and Pueblo" opened my eyes to the city's architectural treasures that had been right in front of me all along. Currently sitting on our coffee table, Mr. Secord's book has proved engaging enough for a casual read, yet comprehensive enough to warrant a thorough study.
