Great first coloring book. The outlines are heavy, which makes it easier for the little ones to stay inside the lines. The pictures to be colored are all on the right side pages of the book, preventing the markers from bleeding onto the page to be colored. Includes transport, animals and various shapes.

Wonderful book. Pictures are simple for our 1.5 year old to want to color them, and not get overwhelmed. Highly recommend as a beginner coloring and activity book.

A great simple coloring book for toddlers. My 18 months old was interested in coloring pictures. The thick black outlines help him focus on the picture and introduce a concept of 'coloring within the lines'. The pictures are placed on one sided pages to prevent 'bleeding of color' if markers are used. Word tracing provides an extra challenge for older children.

Of all the books on COM they either go right into using the library functions with no explination behind them or they get over techincal. This book is the best bet for someone looking to truly learn COM and the methods behind the libraries. I'd recomend this book highly.

A very easy and useful book. The book doesn't use complex C++ or compiler specific features or MFC. You need to know only about classes and a little knowledge of Win32 programming. It also explains the COM concept and how it can be used for operating systems other than Windows. I liked chapter where the author showed in few steps how to create a remote COM object running on different machine using DCOM. This book is essential if you want to learn COM

This book is beautiful. I only gave it 3 stars because it did not work for my intended purpose. I have a friend who's daughter just turned 4. She LOVES Cinderella and I thought it would be fun to give her this book for her birthday! I am glad I had this book shipped to me to read first before sending it to her though. The stories in this book are too dark for me to feel appropriate to give a 4 year old. The stories are too short for an older child too, so it is a strange combination. The book is beautiful and I wish it would have worked as the gift I intended, unfortunately I will have to send it back and look for a different gift.

Was really looking forward to a cultural feast but instead found a bare bones version of each Cinderella story. Simple and quick, each version is told in a speedy style with no meat. More of a recap than a anything. Cinderella lost her slipper. The prince finally found her. The end. So disappointed. We returned it. For a beautiful more in depth story I guess buy all individually- starting with the Egyptian Cinderella. It is beautiful illustrated and has a fact section in the back about how there really was a white slave girl who ended up marrying an Egyptian pharoah. Who knew?!

The book contains four excellent variations on the story. They are good for adults and literature students doing a comparison. The illustrations will appeal to both children and adults. There is a covert lesson in each story. Look for it and think.

This is a great children's book. It contains different versions of the cinderella story. I love the diversity that is in here. There are different cultures that are addressed. I will definitely be reading this to my niece soon!

I bought this for my classroom. I like that the stories are a shorter version of the original stories. My students loved this book.

didn't realize it had some pretty different stories in it, such as an older sister who burned the youngest sisters face. but I do love the cinderella story and how there are different versions from different cultures.

I read all the reviews before purchasing and some said they were disappointed with the fact the book was missing pieces of the story. Honestly for a baby/toddler it is perfect. Get the full version when they get old but in the meantime it's a great buy. These books are excellent few words and plenty pictures for babies and toddlers. Hard cover makes it easy for them to turn, very cute and small to carry any and everywhere.

I grew up reading Dr. Seuss, among other children's authors. I had fond memories of that, so I bought this set for my child who was turning 1. I wish I had realized how much garbage that Dr. Seuss had written. Of the set, there is only one truly good book: "Oh the Thinks You Can Think." The worst of the bunch is "Ten Apples up on Top." I actually had to hide that one because it sucks so bad. It's a terrible book and I regret subjecting a developing brain to it. I mean, if you're going to write literary nonsense, can you at least make it good?The books are durable and stand up to a one-year-old playing with them, stepping on them, looking at them, and handing them to adults to read. If only the contents of the books were as good of quality as the material they are printed upon!So if you want only one good book to read out of the whole set, then buy it. If not, then give your child the instruction manual for your TV set. At least it will be better written than "10 Apples up on Top."

We bought this intending as a back up present that ended sitting around until our child was born. So we ended up keeping it and our child loves it. The books aren’t the most recognizable Dr. Seuss books but we still have fun reading them. We use the container to store our son’s Dr. Seuss flashcards we bought separately. He loves carrying the box around like a mini suitcase.

These books are very small and kind of disappointing. Perhaps our 2 1/2 year old grandchild is too old for them, but the Dr. Seuss wit is timeless. I did have to purchase other books that were larger for her to take to pre-school in order to share illustrations with the children.

Very nice little books. These are smaller than the regular ones which is fine for little kids. The pages are thick cardboard for those just learning to care for books. Come in a nice little carrying case.

I bought two of these box sets and they are ok. I enjoy reading the Ten Apples Up On Top book and the Oh, The Thinks You Can Think book. The Shape of Me and Other Stuff is ok but I do not like the Hop on Pop as i just don't like the reading flow. But still the set is ok. These DO NOT work well for a young child who likes putting everything in their mouth. The board book pages will pretty much disintegrate when wet so be aware of that. My little teether took out the whole bottom of the bonded part VERY quickly! We can still use the book but I don't let him play with them when we aren't reading them.

J. Allen Hood and I became friends 28 years ago in the military. Even those in charge were drawn to his extraordinary imagination, humor, and thought processes. Rarely a topic, but, as a friend, one could sense he was humbly trying to figure out where he'd been; where he was going; and what the point of it all was. Never critical, Hood took pleasure in dissecting and highlighting your attributes, using his creativity in a humorous and bizarre way. You were left feeling that he admired said attribute, yet triggered to evaluate the downside on your own. Some write to admire their own creativity. That's not Hood. His thoughts and experiences are too immense to contain. My take is that a little testosterone gave way to reflection, and this middle-aged man realized what we already knew about him... Not only is he one of the most valid to write such a book, but he has wisdom that young men need to hear!

This author clearly knows the characteristics which qualify manhood as being so much more than simply having male genitalia, but that isn't what makes this book so great. What makes this book work so well is the way Hood puts everything into perspective so clearly, explaining how to conduct oneself properly in myriad real-life circumstances every teenage boy will face, all while simultaneously stimulating introspective thought. He artfully explains exactly what it takes to be a successful man while also being a truly good person. Hood balances lessons of strength and confidence with emotion and humility so completely well and with such clear logic that the reader is left with no doubt at all why manhood is so much more than simply being male, and why conducting oneself properly is so vital to being the kind of man - and the kind of human being - one can be proud of being.He's not overbearing or condescending in any way, but the prose is direct and unapologetic. If the reader has any question about right or wrong in a situation involving anything from bullies to heroes to love to hate, this book will deliver the answer without any sugar-coating. Every important subject is covered - bullying, fear, depression, money, language, appearance, humility, confidence, emotions... if it plays a role in making a boy into a man, Hood covers it in this book. The fact that he can do this in a mere ~150 pages is incredible, but it speaks to his clarity of thought. The guy obviously knows his stuff.If there is anyone in your life who you feel could benefit from a clear, no-nonsense explanation of what qualities make a male into a good, upstanding man, all wrapped up into an easily digestible, pleasant read, this is the only book you'll need.

I come at this book from a slightly different angle than the author intended his audience to come; I was raised in a traditional two-parent home. Where, still today, I have my father to look up to and was an outstanding role model and influence in the man I became. Fast forward many years later, and I am a single father of a young man of 14 years, and a young woman of 18 years, trying to guide my son into becoming a quality man, and teaching my daughter what standards to have for the men she chooses to let be involved in her life. I have met many single mothers, raising young men, but without any sort of male presence that could help guide these young men on a path of having, what I believe, are true male strengths. I believe this book can help those mothers who strive and desire to have a male viewpoint influence the lives of their sons. I have also been exposed and spent time around my son’s male friends that clearly have no masculine guidance in their life. This book is rightly targeted at this audience, and they would benefit greatly from reading this book.Reading this book made it apparent that Mr. Hood has gained insight and clarity into what it means to carry yourself like a man from hard lessons learned from his own experiences. His suggestions and guidance are on par with the values I am trying to instill in my son. I enjoyed that the book is not a in-your-face-hear-me-roar mandate or overbearing at all, and has more of a matter-of-fact approach that emphasises it is up to the reader to make the decisions on the type of life he would like to create for himself. This aligns with the message I am trying to teach my son, that he needs to take charge of his own life...to own it.The book is not overly long, and the topics are short enough, that I feel a young reader could finish this read in a handful of days. I personally wish the author would have gone into more detail in the section on girls (women), but this may have been intentional, as each individual will need to gauge what they need to fulfill a happy rewarding relationship. Additionally, I wish there would have been more on not letting video games take too much of your attention and time. This is a personal struggle I am dealing with with my son, and feel it needs more emphasis in today’s teenage boys. Once again, this may have been intentional, as I know my son doesn’t want to be nagged on for playing too many games, so the short brush with the topic may have been to not nitpick and beat a dead horse.The author addressing weakness, fear, and bullying first in the book helps ease the reader and puts it out in the open that we all have these issues, learn to control its effect on you and it is a natural feeling to have. My son said, “I really liked that things weren’t sugar coated, and it explains you have to deal with life the best you can.” Additionally, he has mentioned it has given him some things to think about; like getting a job, being the man of the house, and holding a family together should the need or time arise. I, personally, like that this book has inspired him to continue to think about what it means to become a man, the work that it takes, and the satisfaction (including failures) that comes with it.Mr. Hood states this book is targeted at a young male maturing into adulthood who does not have a proper male role model in their life, but I would also wholeheartedly recommend this book for boys that do have a strong male role model in their lives; to help reinforce what is already being experienced, and shed new light on ways to think about things. So much so, that I ordered 3 additional copies to send my nephews, even though they already have a strong male figure in their lives; I believe this book will be advantageous in their pursuit of becoming a Man. Highly recommended!
