Cathy J. Scott is Professor of Accounting and Accounting Department Chair at Navarro College. She has received the 2014 Texas Society of CPAs Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, the 2012-2013 American Accounting Association Educator of the Year, and the Two-Year College and the 2010 Navarro College's Teaching of Excellence Award. Dr. Scott earned her bachelor's degree from Nazareth College, MBA from Amberton University, a post-graduate accounting degree from Keller Graduate School of Management, and her PhD from Capella University. Prior to joining academics, Dr. Scott had a 25-year accounting career in the automotive industry. She remains a popular speaker in accounting and financial management for vehicle manufacturers and dealer associations. She has written numerous accounting-related articles for automotive publications. Dr. Scott is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Teachers of Accounting at Two-Year Colleges (TACTYC), the American Accounting Association (AAA), National Business Educators Association (NBEA) and Texas Community College Association (TCCTA). She has held regional and national positions with the American Accounting Association, including Secretary of the Two-Year College section and co-coordinator of the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Southwest Region. I really enjoy this accounting book. I am taking online classes from my local community college and this book has really been a big help in learning it by myself at home. It was a required textbook and I’m glad it was, it’s easy to read and has tons of helpful examples and exercises. I’m renting it and it came in nice condition, has some writing in it (and someone put some wrong answers) but other than that’s it’s good lol.If this review was helpful please let me know below, thanks!

Book is in great condition. However take extra caution that you are getting everything you need when ordering. This does NOT have the cengage access code that you nee to be able to do your assignments. I didn't realize this until after I had opened the book to get ready for my class, at that point it is too late to return it (no returns after the book has been opened) and you are out of luck, can't return it and no code. The code can be purchased for another $134, rip off.

This is an excellent book if you need to learn the basis of accounting!

I like the analytical approach that explains the content in details.

I had the same problem. I did not realize that the book does not come with the access code until I started studying it. The note about not including the access code should be more visible. I am stuck with it because I started writing on it. And the CD does not work on Apple computers either!

This is a good reference book on how to view accounting for any institution, organization, or business.
